Shareware registrations for Scrollites for Kaleidoscope are handled by Kagi, a small company run by Kee Nethery that processes registrations for a growing number of authors. Kagi is not a software publisher, and does not provide technical support for Scrollites. If you have any questions about Scrollites, contact me.
Upgrading from older versions of Scrollites
If you have already registered Scrollites for Kaleidoscope, you do not need to reregister or pay an upgrade fee.
Registering Scrollites
Your copy of Scrollites should have come with a "Register" application, which creates a customized registration form to send to Kagi Shareware. If you did not receive the "Register" application, it's available as a separate package at my web site: http://www.blueskyheart.com. Please use the Register application, as payments sent without it can be lost or delayed.
Launch the Register application, and a window will open asking for all the necessary information. Type your name, postal address, and e-mail address in the corresponding boxes at the top of the window. To enable Kagi to contact you to confirm your registration, you need to provide an email or a postal address; they don’t do fax. If you don’t have an email address, check the "Postcard Receipt" box in the bottom right of the window, (which adds $1 to your charge)...this is essential in order for Kagi to reply to your registration if registering by snail mail.
Choose your method of payment from the pop-up menu and complete the needed info, such as credit card number, type of currency, etc. Indicate the number of copies you are registering in the "Single User" box (for example, "1"). The application automatically computes the fee for you. The "Site" and "World-Wide" checkboxes are intended for companies or organizations that want a license to use Scrollites on all of their machines. If Scrollites is worth more to you than the indicated registration fee, you may enter a bonus in the "Bonus US$" box.
Once you have finished, "Register" displays the total amount at the bottom right of the window. You then need to create a registration form by clicking one of the following three buttons:
• Print... prints a paper copy of the registration form, which you can then mail or post to Kagi Shareware.
• Copy... puts a copy of the registration form on your clipboard for you to paste into an email message to send to Kagi Shareware. This only works with a credit card payments, as it is not yet possible to email cash or checks.
• Save... saves a copy of the registration form to your hard disk as a SimpleText document for you to print out or email later.
Do not send the completed registration to me...it goes to Kagi Shareware. Kagi's email and postal addresses are included in the completed registration form (shareware@kagi.com). After you send your registration, Kagi will automatically send you email entitled "Thanks for your Payment". If you did not supply an email address but did check "Postcard Receipt", you'll receive an acknowledgement from Kagi via postal mail.
It can take Kagi Shareware up to a week to process a registration after they receive it. If you do not receive the "Thanks" email message, contact Kagi Shareware at support@kagi.com, or at the postal address on the registration form to ask about the status of your registration. Keep in mind that sometimes mail gets lost, both email and postal mail.
I've tried to keep these instructions as brief and simple as possible. I've lifted many of Greg Landweber's own words from his "How to Register" text doc that is included with Kaleidoscope. If you have any questions or need further guidance, I suggest you look at that document (NOT his "Register" application), in particular the "Common Mistakes" section.
You may still send your registration fee directly to me, if you prefer, without using the "Register" program. My mailing address is included in any "Read Me" doc that accompanies any Scrollites file. Thanks for registering Scrollites!
